Hinge structure

A spar structure for connecting a moveable component (4, figure 1) and an aircraft (5, figure 1) comprising a continuous body 11 comprising a plurality of attachment/actuation brackets 10a, 10b, 10c, and a pair of continuous hinge lines 6, 7, extending through the body. Preferably the hinge lines run through two separate groups of the brackets, and one group of brackets connect the spar to an actuator (9, figure 2) and the other group connect the moveable component to the aircraft structure. The spar may comprises an outer U-shaped body within which the brackets are formed. Also disclosed is a method of making such a spar structure by drilling a pair of holes into a block or billet of material to form the hinge lines, and then machining the block or billet to form the spar structure around the hinge lines.
