A bidirectional drive assembly for a work vehicle has a reaction element which is fixed in relation to or part of a drive housing. A drive shaft is rotatable about a drive axis relative to the reaction member in a first direction of rotation and alternatively in a second direction of rotation. A planetary gear set is coupled to the drive shaft and configured to rotate an output hub in one of the first and second directions of rotation. A clutch assembly is coupled to the reaction element and includes a first clutch and a second clutch. The first clutch is configured to connect the planetary gear set to the reaction element to effect a first speed of the output hub in the first direction of rotation and, alternatively, the second direction of rotation. The second clutch is configured to connect the planetary gear set to the reaction element to effect a second speed of the output hub in the first direction of rotation and, alternatively, the second direction of rotation. An actuator assembly is configured to cause movement of the first clutch and the second clutch along the drive axis to selectively engage the planetary gear set.
