摘要：Abstract Title: PINGER FOR DETERRING TOOTHED WHALES AND METHOD OF USING THEREOFA pinger which generates a series of pings for deterring toothed whales (Cetacea Odontoceti, e.g. dolphins, porpoise and killer whales) from depredating fishing lines and a method of using the pinger is presented. The pinger comprises a loudspeaker configured to produce the series of pings; a DC power source with a first voltage; a DC-DC converter configured to step-up the first voltage to a second voltage; a capacitor configured to store charge at the second voltage; and a controller (15, Fig.2) configured to use charge stored by the capacitor to activate the loudspeaker to produce a ping.
