摘要：Abstract Title: Accessory device having headphones connected in balanced configurationAn electronic accessory device (500) has a connector 502 for connection to a host electronic device (400). The connector has a plurality of contacts having n-fold rotational symmetry, n being an integer greater than one, and may be a USB type C connector. The device has a transducer 508 (e.g. a left loudspeaker) coupled only to first and second contacts A6, B6 of the connector, the first and second contacts being located at rotationally symmetric positions on the connector. The device may have a second transducer 510 (e.g. a right speaker) coupled only to third and fourth contacts A7, B7 located at rotationally symmetric positions on the connector. First and second transducers 508, 510 may be a pair of headphones connected in a balanced configuration characterised by independent connections of each pair of terminals to each speaker voice coil. The device may comprise user operated switches 540, 541 coupled to resistors 530, 531 coupled between fifth and sixth rotationally symmetric contacts A8, B8. The device may have a characteristic impedance (312) coupled to one of a pair of rotationally symmetric contacts for enabling host device (400) to determine an orientation of the connector.
