美国史密森学会网站2015年4月13日（http://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/these-were-2014s-most-challenged-books-180954973）转述了美国图书馆学会公布的“2014年*受争议图书清单”，争议主要来自学生家长和图书馆读者。

**位，小说，The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian，自2007年出版以来5次上争议榜。这本书“罪状”很多：反家庭，文化问题上不敏感，渲染吸毒、酗酒、吸烟，冒犯性的语言，直白的性描写，渲染暴力。还有一条特殊“罪状”：渲染欺负人的行为。

第二位，Persepolis，漫画故事。争议点：渲染赌博，冒犯性的语言，政治观点不当。

第三位，And Tango Makes Three，图画书，说的是两只公企鹅共同养育小企鹅的故事。自从2007年出版以来7次上争议榜。争议点：反家庭，同性恋，政治观点不当，宗教观点不当，等等。

2004年受到争议的图书共300多种，其中38%的争议意见来自公共图书馆，36%来自中小学图书馆。

按人群分，36%的争议意见来自学生家长，23%来自图书馆读者，2%来自宗教界或压力团体。

这些书为什么引起争议呢？据美国图书馆学会的分析，34%的争议可归结于“直白的性描写”，23%是因为冒犯性的语言，21%的争议是说，这些书不适合书商所建议的阅读对象（例如，某书定性为少儿图书，但家长认为此书少儿不宜）。

美国图书馆学会指出，有色人种作家写的书，或描写有色人种的书，特别容易受到争议，甚至遭禁。

Reasons: Offensive language, unsuited to age group, violence

8) The Perks of Being a Wallflower, by Stephen Chbosky

Reasons: drugs/alcohol/smoking, homosexuality, offensive language, sexually explicit, unsuited for age group. Additional reasons: “date rape and masturbation”

9) A Stolen Life, by Jaycee Dugard

Reasons: drugs/alcohol/smoking, offensive language, sexually explicit, and unsuited for age group
