写论文经常会出现这种场景：有两个和两个以上的名词并列。此时，冠词只加在**个名词前，还是每个名词前都加冠词呢？

我们从小学英语，就背语法，其实英语是交流工具。作为工具就要求满足下面两原则： A)准确传达说法人意思;

B)除了特殊习惯，表达应简便和高效。

并列名词前的冠词怎么加，当然也遵循上述两原则。具体表现如下。

一、说话人企图表达一个名词对应一个对象，则每个名词都加冠词

1.1 物理上本来就是多对象，说话人没有特别的想法

A teacher and a student entered together(一个教师和一个学生一起进来了；此处语境明显是两个人)。

A boy and a girl entered together(一个男孩和一个女孩一起走进来。明显两个人)。

Tom has bought an English dictionary and a French dictionary(两本辞典)。

He has a father and a mother（既有爸爸，又有妈妈。爸爸和妈妈是两个人）。

The husband and the wife were discussing the education of their son(丈夫和妻子是两个人)。

The worker and the cleaner are good people（这个工人和这个清洁工都是好人）。

1.2 物理上一个对象，想说话人想表达为多对象

这需要从谈话的语境来断定，而不是仅根据单句就能确定的。

She is a doctor and a nurse(一个人，但是说话者想突出两种任务，或承担两项任务，也许说话人想表达She很能干，或很累)。

His father is a teacher and a poet(他父亲既是教师,又是诗人)。

1.3 特别强调

要对并列的名词进行比较、选择和强调时,每个名词前都有冠词(这明显要表达不同的对象)。

Give me a pen, not a pencil（给我一支钢笔,不是铅笔）。

Do you want a novel or a dictionary? （你是想要本小说,还是想要本字典）。

1.4 当然both… and…所连接的两个名词前均需加冠词。

Both the boys and the girls did well intheir exam.

二、说话人企图表达多个名词只对应一个对象，则**个名词加冠词

2.1 本来就一个物理对象，说话人也想表达成一个对象

He is a worker, good husband and good father（他既是工人，也是个好丈夫和一个好父亲。说话人想强调的一个“他”）。

He became the teacher and friend of the student（他变成了学生的老师和朋友）。

She is a dancer and singer（她是一名舞蹈家兼歌唱家）。

His father is a teacher and poet（他父亲是位教师兼诗人）。

The noun is the name of a person or thing（名词是人和物的名称）。

2.2 多个对象，但说话人想强调为一个对象

在下面例句中，虽然有多个对象，但是说话人想强调的就是**的一体。

A man and woman are walking arm-in-arm。一对男女手挽着手走着；也许语境(上下文，而不是此单句信息)认为这一对男女是“**的一对”。

2.3 习惯性地一套组合

有些并列的名词关系紧密，“自然成对”使用, 通常会被视为一个整体, 这样只在**个名词前加冠词，如：a knife and fork( 一副刀叉); a cup and saucer (一副茶杯与茶托)； a horse and cart( 一辆马车)。

仔细体会下面的表达的差异：

Headwaiter:Place a knife, fork, and spoon next to each plate.

Trainee: Where do they go?

Headwaiter: The knives and spoons go on the right, while the forks go on the left.
