A lid interlock apparatus comprising a latch assembly having a latch stay 11 arranged to move, e.g. pivot, in a first plane; an interlock assembly having an interlock plate 12 arranged to move, e.g. rotate, in a second plane; wherein the first and second planes are angled, e.g. perpendicular, with respect to one another. Latch plate 17 may include protrusion 19 releasably retaining a rotatable bifurcate latch 10. Preferably interlock plate 12 has blocking protrusion 24 locatable in an aperture (25) in latch stay 11 preventing rotation of the latch stay until the blocking protrusion is rotated to a disengaged position. Also claimed is a lid interlock wherein the latch assembly and interlock assembly are both mounted on a lid assembly.
