The present invention relates to a self-aligning reactive
mesogen having a novel structure comprising a 4-to 9-membered ring having at
least one oxygen atom (o) as an anchor and a liquid crystal composition
comprising the same, Since the reactive mesogen (RM) is bonded to the surface of
a liquid crystal device (LCD) substrate to form a monolayer, the reactive
mesogen (RM) has vertical (homeotrophic) alignment and pretilt functions of the
liquid crystal without alignment layers, it is possible to secure long-term
